Fifteen years of getting rooms right

Zacharie Pearson Painting & Decorating is a professional decorating business based in South Manchester, working across Greater Manchester and East Cheshire. We cover internal and external decorating for both homes and commercial property — anything from a single bedroom to a full repaint inside and out.

Zach has been decorating for over fifteen years. In that time the work has ranged from period houses in Alderley Edge and Wilmslow, through Victorian terraces in Macclesfield and Bollington, to 1930s semis around Wythenshawe and new-build handovers. Different properties, different problems, same approach.

How we actually work

Decorating has a reputation for two things: tradespeople who do not turn up, and finishes that look fine on day one and poor by the following winter. Most of what we do is aimed at those two problems.

We quote in person, in writing, and for free anywhere within about fifteen miles of South Manchester. The quote says what is included and roughly how many days it will take. If something changes once we open a surface up — and on older houses it sometimes does — we tell you before we carry on, not afterwards on the invoice.

On site, preparation gets the time it needs. Filling, sanding, caulking, sealing new plaster, priming bare timber. It is the part nobody photographs and the part that decides how the room looks in five years. Carpets get covered, furniture gets sheeted or moved and wrapped, and the room is tidied at the end of every day rather than at the end of the job.

On the last day we walk round the finished work with you before the kit goes back in the van. Anything you are not happy with gets sorted there and then. That single habit is the reason most of our work now comes from repeat customers and recommendations.

Materials we use

We work with trade products rather than retail equivalents: Dulux Trade, Little Greene, Farrow & Ball, Johnstone’s Trade and Crown. Trade paint covers better, holds its colour longer and stands up to being cleaned, which matters most in the places that get the hardest use — hallways, stairwells, kitchens and children’s bedrooms.

We are also a Repair Care Approved Contractor, which means we are trained to repair rotten timber windows, doors and fascias in place using their resin system rather than replacing the whole unit. On a period property that can be the difference between a few hundred pounds and a few thousand.
